Brace Yourself: The NYS Thruway Might Close
Kandy Harris | January 26, 2015Best gird your loins and settle in. According to a report we read on WPDH.com, the Thruway will be closed to tractor trailers as of 4pm today. And not just the Thruway, either. All state highways are down for the count, too. As for regular cars, the Gov’s office expects to make an announcement at 4pm about state road closures, so keep your eyes on the Thruway Authority website for more updates. Further, WPDH.com reports that “Metro North has added additional trains from 1-5pm Monday afternoon to help commuters get where they need to go.” Tuesday service has been suspended, but it seems that, at least for now, Amtrak is on track (see what we did there?), but who knows how long that will last? Can you work from home? Let’s all work from home. We’ll wear pajamas all day, linger over extra cups of coffee, and take occasional snowball fight/snowman building/sledding breaks when needed and/or required (interspersed with drooling over Upstater property posts, of course). Whatever you choose to do, don’t drive a car to get there. Meanwhile, let’s look at pictures of warmer weather in the Hudson Valley and Catskills from Upstater’s very own Flickr pool.
