Ride the Train, Collect Your Zipcar, and Visit the Hudson Valley & Catskills
Kandy Harris | February 28, 2017Zipcar and Metro North are about to make it a lot easier for your to visit upstate NY without having your own automobile. They’ve partnered up to provide 14 cars to various Metro North stations throughout the Hudson Valley with 180 miles available to use as you see fit. Reservations – which are required – also include gas, insurance, and maintenance.
Metro North stations with Zipcars are:
East of Hudson: Poughkeepsie, Beacon, North White Plains, Woodlawn.
West of Hudson: Port Chester, Harrison, Mamaroneck, Pelham, and Mt. Vernon East.
You can see a lot of the mid-Hudson Valley and parts of the Catskills over 180 miles. For example, you could take the Metro North to Poughkeepsie, collect your car, and head toward Ellenville, Ulster County in the western Catskills. Round trip from POK to Ellenville to POK: 69 miles total. Add a side trip to Woodstock: 107 miles total. That’s still plenty of mileage leftover for another side trip (Saugerties, Kingston, New Paltz, Hudson, or Rhinebeck, for example). How would you spend your mileage in the Hudson Valley and Catskills?
