Contemporary House + Studio in Esopus, $920,000

  |  May 10, 2012

This cool contemporary property is situated on 25 acres in Ulster Park, with nary a soul in sight. Which is probably good, because if we were neighbors with this house, we’d probably wear out our welcome. The price tag is steep, coming in at about $350/square foot, but for 25 acres and a gigantic studio space? Um, okay. Price accepted.

Here’s where you might save a few bucks: The house is energy efficient and runs on a geothermal system. It’s also constructed using an Arxx system, which insulates and is fire and sound-resistant. So you can stay warm in the winter AND finally start that death metal band you’ve been dying to but couldn’t because you live in an apartment building. Or you can turn the huge studio into a multimedia extravaganza of art or dance or theatre.

Even though the concrete floors provide radiant heat, some parts of the main house feel a little cold and Spartan. But that’s really just blatant nit-pickery. We think this house is quite a hidden gem of awesomeness hidden away in the town of Esopus.
