Curbed.com’s House of the Day Lives in Kerhonkson…By Way of Wappingers Falls

It’s no surprise to us that Curbed.com would choose a property in the Catskills as their House of the Day, as they did with the above-depicted home in Kerhonkson, Ulster County. This area is chock-full of gorgeous homes (hence the existence of blogs like Upstater.com), but this home has a past that’s unique even for the Catskills.

Built in the 1840s, this Federal house began life about 35 miles away from Kerhonkson in Wappingers Falls, located east-of-Hudson in Dutchess County. The house was relocated to its current location in Kerhonkson in 2006. How did they get this historic house across the river and west toward the mountains? Piece by piece and verrrrrrry carefully, we reckon. And they did yeomen’s work given that the property is in beautiful condition, meticulously restored, and sits on 18 acres of bucolic land that includes two barns, a spring-fed pond, and mountain views.

The property is listed on the market for $1.8 million. Want to see more of the stunning interior? Go to the official listing and feast your eyes…
