Downstaters: Who’s Ready for Adult Summer Camp?

  |  June 16, 2015

Kids out of school? Are they soon to be heading off to day or sleep-away camp? Feeling a tad jealous that they get to wile away their summer days under the shade of an oak, followed by swimming, followed by campfire stories? We are, and apparently, Escape Brooklyn is feeling a bit envious, as well. That’s why they’re offering the adults a chance to play in the woods of Phoenicia for the weekend of June 26-28, 2015. All the fun of summer camp packed into 48 job-friendly hours. Summer Camp activities include hiking the Tanbark Trail, tubing on the Esopus Creek, and camping at Black Bear Campground, which is walking distance to the hamlet of Phoenicia, so a fresh cup of coffee and a hot breakfast you don’t have to make is never more than a few steps away. At the end of Saturday evening, there’s a pizza and beer party at local eatery/hang-out Brio’s. And that’s it. The rest of the time, you can play in the creek, enjoy copious mountain views, sit by the fire, and, of course, sip an adult beverage or three of your choosing. No car? No problem. Trailways Bus leaves from Port Authority and stops in the center of Phoenicia. Bus tickets are $64.50, campsite is $13/night, tent rental is $10/day, and you can bring Buster, your rescue corgi, for $5/day. That’s a pretty cheap weekend upstate. Head over to Escape Brooklyn for more information on registration and itinerary for Summer Camp. And have fun, you crazy kids.
