Five-Figure Fridays: Callicoon Center Bungalow, $99,900

  |  July 6, 2012

Although this cute fella sits on a very small lot (it says “ask agent” in the listing, but we drove by it last weekend and it looks like less than a quarter-acre), it abuts a big field with a tennis court and pond, part of the local inn that’s also for sale. It’s also a short walk to the Callicoon Center Village Market and the bandshell where the famous Callicoon Center Band plays (for one hour on Wednesday nights in the summer). And it’s down the hill from wonderful Apple Pond Farm, where you can milk a goat or collect eggs or buy some fresh garlic scapes, moments after they’ve been picked.

Its sales history, per Trulia, is interesting: sold for $60,000 in 1996; sold for $69,614 in 2007; sold for $65,000 in 2007, and sold for $100,000 in 2009. Currently assessed around $60,000, which is a cautionary tale for those of you hoping your upstate New York homes will greatly appreciate in value.

This bungalow has three beds, one bath, 1,674 square feet. Callicoon Center is a tiny hamlet just down the road from Jeffersonville, not to be confused with Callicoon!

8 Fred Hessinger Road, Callicoon Center, NY. $99,900. GMAP.
