Friday Fancy: Austerlitz Compound, $1,395,000

  |  February 8, 2013

We could have done an entire week on Austerlitz properties that cost more than a million bucks, there are so many of them. Ultimately, though, we chose this one for a number of reasons: The lot size is so large (179 acres) that it crosses state lines into Massachusetts. And the compound consists of 2 houses…or so the listing states. Looks like maybe three or four based on the photos.

The main house is a converted barn built in 1939, and we really dig the clean, simple interior. So refreshing and not overly renovated. The guest house is 3 beds/2 baths and, although we don’t care much for pine paneling, has definite potential. Taxes are over $19,000, which almost seems reasonable for a property of this size. Or maybe we’ve just spent too much time looking at multi-million dollar homes in Austerlitz.

Beds (Main House): 5

Baths (Main House): 4

Square Feet (Main House): 6,298

Taxes: $19,265
