Walker Zanger has been a maker of handcrafted tile and stone for more than 60 years. They are known for their masterful mixing and marrying of materials, patterns, and colors utilizing traditional craftsmanship techniques. Much like the inspiration for Hudson Woods, their inspiration comes from nature, art and fashion.

Since we last covered Walker Zanger, the materials we selected for Hudson Woods have been installed, in-use and looking beautiful. In the master bath, pictured above, we selected a grey quartzite tile which provides a subtle but rich texture which is tactile and earthy. We also elected to use the pure white Soho ceramic tiles in the second bathroom. A nod to New York tradition and heritage, it’s a clean and crisp design that creates a light and airy atmosphere.

Since our previous journal post, Walker Zanger has also launched some new and interesting products, a few in collaboration with Robert A.M. Stern Architects and another with Tilt. Blendart, pictured below, is actually a porcelain tile that looks exactly like weathered wood but offers the durability and versatility of porcelain tile in a variety of profiles.

You can stop by Walker Zanger’s New York City shop to take a look at some samples of the materials we’ve mentioned. The are located at at 37 E 20th St, New York, NY 10003.
