Happy Fourth of July Weekend! Now Go Buy this Farm in Delaware County for $334,000
Kandy Harris | July 3, 2015We hear that the Delaware County town of Bovina throws one whale of a fireworks display on July 4th, so perhaps you’re headed in the direction to catch it. If so, head west and north to the rural farm hamlet of Meridale, where this farm is located. This place might look a bit familiar to you. Last year, we featured this property when it was a rental, and now it’s on the market and worthy of a second mention. The $334,000 price tag includes a main farmhouse, big red barn, small general store (yeah, you heard us), a few other outbuildings, and 30 acres of land in the Catskills. We love this little anecdote from the listing: “Full disclosure… I am in love with the store… having passed it, and its enormous turn-of-the-century crock on the porch, hundreds of times on the way to Oneonta. And apparently, I’m not alone. ‘If you love me, you will buy this for me’ was found by the present owners, an artist and writer, written in the dust of the old store’s paned windows.” A ringing endorsement. So go ahead, buy this farm for someone you love (after all, if you really did, you would), and then marry them in meadow overlooking farmstead, just like the current owners did. Trailways bus stop is nearby, and apparently, the property gets cell service.
