Head North to the Southern Tier for this Creekside Contemporary Cottage, $79,900

Happy Five Figure Friday, everyone! Here’s perfect little northern haven located just outside of Greene village, Chenango County. For those without a map handy, that’s up north of Binghamton in the Souther Tier southeast of the Finger Lakes. Yep, making it a real honest-to-goodness getaway. Since it’s situated 3.5 hours from NYC, you’ll want to spend lots of time on the property to justify all that driving.

Not that you’ll want to leave. The tiny cottage consists of a single bed, a single bath, and 415 square feet of space. Pleasingly Minimalist with tiled floors and Mid-Mod wood stove, the home’s biggest appeal is its treehouse feel due to its perch on piers and double-decker balconies overlooking the Genegantslet Creek – excellent news if you’re a trout fishing enthusiast. Seems like just the kind of place we would want to go to write that book, paint that picture, or record that album…taking copious breaks for creek time, of course.

Civilization isn’t far away, should you crave it. The village of Greene is a ten minute drive from this property. Populated with historic architecture, some of which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Greene has restaurants, pubs, a grocery store, banks, pharmacy, etc. The western Catskills are about an hour away, as is Ithaca and the Finger Lakes region in the other direction. Get right in the center of both.

439 Laurel Road, Greene (Greater Binghamton MLS)
