High Falls is the quintessential nature get-away of the Hudson Valley, trees and greens and animals abound. Both the Mohonk Preserve and Minnewaska State Park are located just minutes away for a beautiful view, ideal bird watching, hiking, etc. etc. Fun fact: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Heroes in a Half Shell, Turtle Power) episode “Unidentified Flying Leonardo” is set there; wherein Leonardo is mistaken for an alien by superstitious town-folk. In defense of High Falls residents, assuming a giant, bipedal, katana wielding turtle for an alien is pretty reasonable. Fan-boying aside, The Garret in High Falls seems a well-furnished, affordable place for your weekend stay. The spot is just four miles away from the towns of High Falls and Stone Ridge, both charming places to visit for local food and shopping, including great furniture, antiques and flea markets. Come enjoy the natural bounties of the Hudson Valley in style and comfort.
