From Hudson Valley One: A Guided Tour of the New Kaaterskill Falls Trails
Upstater Staff | November 23, 2016For the past year, the NYS DEC has been working on new trails at Kaaterskill Falls, one of the most popular outdoor attractions in the Catskill Mountains. Lots of accidents and deaths caused by hikers attempting to access the upper falls prompted the improvements, and HudsonValleyOne.com recently published the first part of its guide to the new Kaaterskill Falls trails as part of its column “On the Rocks.” We’re looking forward to following it.
Meanwhile, you can see the trail improvements yourself by heading to Kaaterskill Falls via Route 23A and parking in the Molly Smith lot opposite and about .2 miles down from the Bastion Falls trail head. If you’re spending Thanksgiving in the Catskills and looking for a morning hike before the big feast, Kaaterskill Falls is perfect.
