Those of us who spend time in and around the Saugerties village area know about Inquiring Minds Bookstore, located in a highly-visible spot on the corner of Main and Partition Streets. We know that it’s not just a big brick-and-mortar book store the kind of which should not even still be, given the Amazon.com world we live in today. It’s a gathering place, a local institution, and a thumb-to-the-nose to anyone who thinks small businesses providing things written on paper can’t have staying power in 2017. We know that already. Still, it’s nice when places like Inquiring Minds get a national nod, such as the one the bookstore recently received in HuffPo’s list of the 50 Best Indie Bookstores in America.

Joining legendary bookstores like the Strand in NYC and Powell’s Books in Portland OR, Inquiring Minds engendered this comment from HuffPo’s Entertainment Editorial Director Lauren Moraski:

“During a recent weekend stay in the area, I stumbled upon this cozy independent shop, filled to the brim with both new and used books. There’s a coffee shop inside, and you can get lost wandering around and browsing the journals, CDs and toys, which are also for sale.”

Inquiring Minds Bookstore is located at 65 Partition Street, Saugerties, and open daily 10am-9pm, Sundays 10am-6pm. Inquiring Minds New Paltz is located at 6 Church Street, New Paltzwww.inquiringbooks.com.
