Hyde Park Riverside Mid-Mod, $675,000
Kandy Harris | March 5, 2015
What’s not to love about this mid-mod work of art located right on the Hudson River? Almost everything is picture perfect, and it has two of the coolest fire places we’ve ever seen, one of which is even set high up into the wall near the kitchen. Very unusual. There’s another fire place in the living room right next to the sliding glass doors that lead out to the sun room overlooking the river. And everyone knows it’s not truly a mid-mod without a bar, and this one’s got it complete with still more views of the Hudson. But can I pick some nits just for a second?
Pausing for Caveat: The views of Kandy may not necessarily reflect the views of Upstater.com. End of Caveat.
First of all, I hate wall-to-wall carpeting. Especially light colored carpeting. All I see when I look at it is an unsanitary mess that will be coated in perma-grunge forever. So there’s that. Also, the property is very close to the railroad tracks. Pretty much right on top of them. Noise has to be a consideration here. What do you think? Could you overlook the trains in favor of living in a house this hip? Lastly, the listing says it needs updating but no specifics on what needs to be updated.
