Kingston’s Former Bridgewater Bar to become Apartments
Upstater Staff | November 19, 2014Two and a half years ago, we posted about this property on Abeel Street in Kingston’s Rondout district. Back then, it was listed for $575,000. It seems the property has been sold, according to a recent article in the Kingston Daily Freeman, to developer Michael Piazza who plans to turn the building into 7 apartments with work starting this coming spring. The Kingston planning board approved the project on November 10. The dwellings will be “upscale housing,” renting between $1200 and $1500 per month. Although we don’t know exactly how much Piazza purchased the property for, but it looks like Trulia.com’s last sale price for it was $289,000. That’s quite a reduction from nearly $600,000 a couple of years back. We love this beautiful old brick building that originally held a synagogue and later, the West Strand Grill and in its most recent incarnation, the Bridgewater Bar and Grill. Needless to say, we’ll be following the development’s progress and looking forward to seeing the units once they’re complete. You can look at some interior shots on the listing, which is still up on Trulia.
