Has our tour of New Paltz/Rosendale/Gardiner NY homes this week given you a hankering to go visit? Plan it now to coincide with the peak of fall colors in late October, because this particular area of Ulster County is straight-up stunning when the gold, crimson, and orange hues hit Mohonk Mountain and Minnewaska Preserve. So, too, does Rosendale shine from the view atop the railroad trestle-turned-walking path, not to mention the Esopus Creek below. And, fall means harvest time, and this part of Ulster County is known for farm stands. Finally, there’s wine. Lots and lots of wine. Beer and spirits, too. So, yeah, you’re definitely going to want to spend the night in the area after all that, so here are our 3 places to lay your weary head after sucking the marrow from New Paltz/Rosendale/Gardiner NY:
Bring another couple or some friends and rent this charming, spacious farmhouse in Gardiner for the weekend. Includes brick fireplace with beehive oven, bedroom access to outdoor patio, and a master suite on the third floor of the house. Plenty of space! $115/night during the week, and up to $222/night during popular weekends. 2-night min. stay on weekends. Situated in the town of Gardiner just a few minutes south of New Paltz village.
Speaking of New Paltz village, this one-bedroom apartment is right in the middle of it and inexpensive, to boot, at around $100/night, give or take a few bucks depending on whether you’re booking during the week or the weekend. Don’t expect a ton of frills, but do expect to step out the door and find yourself elbow to elbow with great restaurants, shops, pubs, and the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail. No need to drive anywhere. Take the Trailways or cab/Uber/Lyft it from the Poughkeepsie train station and walk everywhere else. 2-night min. stay.
And here’s the real knock-out of the group, located just east of Rosendale village. Called the Bali House, this Zen-like retreat sits off the beaten path overlooking a serene pond. Since the home will sleep 10 extremely chill guests (seriously, skip this one if you’re looking to party down), bring your friends. Includes two queen-bed rooms and one king-bed room. Goes for $400/night, 2-night min. stay. Also would be a perfect place to host a yoga retreat. Situated close to Rosendale, Kingston, and New Paltz. Look at all of the pictures in the Airbnb.com listing. You’ll be blown away…
