Phoenicia, will you ever stop being so cool? Apparently not, especially since the Ulster County hamlet in the Catskills has a new place to eat. The Phoenician is now open for business where Al’s Seafood Restaurant used to be at 10 Main Street. Mike Ricciardella, who practically runs an entire restaurant dynasty in Phoenicia that includes 3 other restaurants (Brio’s, the Sportsmen’s Alamo, and Ricciardella’s), tore down most Al’s Seafood in order to rebuild. The Phoenician’s menu includes seafood, steak, and a full bar, and it’s currently open for dinner at 5pm six days out of the week. A little birdie* told us, however, that lunch and late evening menus are coming soon. We love how the new building looks, and for those of us who want our mountain wilderness adventures punctuated with good dining options nearby, we’re excited about this new addition to Main Street. There’s no website yet for the eatery, but you can call 845-688-9800 for more information. Has anyone eaten there yet (apparently it officially opened November 4)? Tell us about your experience in the comments.

* And by “little birdie,” we mean the Watershed Post, which always has the scoop on everything going on in the Catskills.
