Orange County Mid-Century Glass Home STILL in need of Renovation, $475K

  |  December 26, 2017

You know the old saying: People who live in glass houses…are the luckiest people in the world!

Given that this c.1961 Orange County Mid-Century glass home has been on the market for a number of years, we suspect that folks are not running out to purchase 4500 square feet mid-mod fixer-uppers listed for around $500K.

Such was the case when we first posted about this home back in February, and oddly, the price has not budged from its $475K price tag since then. Regardless, we love so many aspects of this home we can’t help but post it again during our Best Houses of 2017 week.

Included in the price – aside from oodles of glass and parquet floors – are three bedrooms, 3.5 baths, floating staircase, floating table in the kitchen’s breakfast nook (“floating” was a big thing in mid-mod home design), asymmetrical fireplace with built-in shelves, and Asian-inspired wall coverings.

The piece-de-resistance for us, however, is the indoor swimming pool surrounded by walls of windows and views of the 2.2-acre property. This propels this property from snazzy mid-mod home into fancy-schmancy mansion territory.

Located in western Orange County, west-of-Hudson, about 25 minutes from Newburgh. Need to get to NYC? It’s less than 90 minutes away, and your best bet in terms of public transportation is at the Metro North station in Beacon, just on the other side of the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge.
