Prepare to Fall in Love with a House + Summer Cottage in Hobart Village, $200,000

  |  May 30, 2017

Since we’re looking at the residential real estate listings for possible homes in which you can live and work, we wanted to show you this cutie in the village of Hobart, Delaware County. Hobart is located on the West Branch of the Delaware River just over the border from northern Greene County. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because Hobart is known as Book Village with six book stores with books from dozens of booksellers and merchants. It even got a nod from the Guardian.com recently, and you should add it to your list of places to visit next time you’re in the rural Catskills.

This tiny, one-bedroom cottage is situated just down the road a piece from Book Village, and we are seriously in love with its stylish look and cheerful color scheme. The house received a gut renovation back in 2002 and includes a modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances and marble countertops, tile floors, and updated baths. Old-fashioned details like beamed ceilings and custom woodwork are all over the 795-square foot interior.

But what of living/working? The half-acre property also comes with a separate seasonal cottage that’s currently set up like an additional living space or an enclosed porch, but we don’t see why it couldn’t become your new studio/office. Either way you slice it, they’re a darling pair of cottages, and we’re ready to pack our bags right this instant.
