Renovate this Dutchess County Farmhouse 10 Minutes from the Train Station, $89,900
Kandy Harris | May 6, 2016Taken strictly on potential alone, we love this Dutchess County farmhouse. We’re seeing hardwood floors that seem in fairly decent condition, original plaster and moldings, built-ins, large windows…all the things we love in an early 20th-century Colonial. Furthermore, it’s big with 1800 square feet, 4 beds/2 baths, and sitting on nearly an acre of land out in the country. The Wassaic Metro-North station is less than 10 minutes away by car, which makes it a viable second home option, if a bit of a project.
There are, however, a couple of issues that give us pause. First, it’s a foreclosure, and a short-sale, at that, which could result in a long wait before you actually close…if you’re approved. Secondly, while we appreciate its overall location (close to the train, mountains, and the CT/NY border), the specific location happens to be across the road from the town dump. Hmm…
