Rhinebeck Just Got a Whole Lot Sweeter…
Kandy Harris | August 12, 2015Have you heard that actors Paul Rudd (star of Ant-Man) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (played the Comedian in the movie adaptation of Watchmen. Too obscure? He was also in Grey’s Anatomy) bought Samuel’s Sweet Shop in Rhinebeck? What’s more, we love Rudd’s reason for purchasing the Rhinebeck village fixture/mom-and-pop. He told Jimmy Kimmel during an appearance on his late night show: “When I moved to this little town of Rhinebeck, we met this guy named Ira. He owned this little candy store that had been there for 25 years. And last year he suddenly and tragically passed away. We were at dinner one night and and decided we gotta save this and not let them turn it into a Burger King.” Regardless of how you feel about the influx of famous folk, that’s the kind of investment in a community with which we have a hard time finding fault. Moving to a town and then putting money back into the town while saving a beloved local business? What a concept.
And we should be applauded for not using the term “eye-candy” at any time during this entire post.
