Think of your favorite holiday movie. Award yourself 10 points if you said “Die Hard.” Give yourself 20 points if you said “Edward Scissorhands.” Yeah, that’s right. Tim Burton’s “Edward Scissorhands” is a Christmas movie. The whole climatic end to the movie takes place during Christmas, with Edward carving ice sculptures for Winona Rider’s Kate as the shavings fall around her like snow (quite impossible in sunny So Cal, where the movie takes place). It’s the tale of the ultimate Misfit Toy, Edward, who was doomed to lifetime of solitude because, well, what else are you going to do when you have scissors for hands?

Relive it on the big screen Friday, November 20 at UPAC in Kingston. Show starts at 7:30pm. Tickets cost $6, which is a bargain compared to the mall theater, so that leaves you plenty of money left over for a burger and a beer at the Anchor (744 Broadway, Kingston) located less than a 10 minute walk from UPAC (601 Broadway). That’s sounds like Date Night Plans Made to us.
