Stop Renting and Start Living in Kingston’s Rondout District, $89,900
Kandy Harris | September 11, 2015You know what we love about not renting? When you own your home, you can do anything you want to it, and when we look at this little two-story townhouse on the Rondout, we envision new paint, refinished floors, and the two upstairs bedrooms minus the dingy greyish/beige carpeting. We also see obvious disadvantages to living here. There’s no separation between the first and second bedrooms aside from a door. So they’re basically one room with a door. It’s small at just over 800 square feet. The kitchen is tight. The lot size is a postage stamp. The house is built right up against its neighbor, meaning not a whole lotta privacy happening here. But there’s lots of reasons to live in a small space, including feeling the need to reduce one’s possessions (you know that whole thing about what you own owning you? It’s true), wanting to own a home but not wanting a massive mortgage (we assume this is a cash-only situation here), and living near a neighborhood you like, and the Rondout is a likable Kingston neighborhood. Could you hack it in a tiny house? We’re not so sure we could, but it’s definitely tempting.
