This is the story…of 3 artists…picked to live in a house…
Kandy Harris | January 28, 2015No, it’s not The Real World: Storm King (MTV execs reading this: Can we make this happen, please?). It’s the Shandaken Project, an artist-in-residency program that takes place at the Storm King Art Center in New Windsor, Orange County, and they’re currently taking applications from visual artists, musicians, writers, sculptors, dancers, etc. Participants will have free room and board at Storm King for 2 to 6 weeks while they do what they do best: Create, create, create. While the setting is private, artists-in-residence will be sharing the house with 2 other artists. Private studio space will be provided, though. According to the Project’s mission statement, “our primary aim is to enable our residents to create new pathways in their work, and thereby the world, by cultivating an atmosphere that encourages experimentation and limits the pressures of everyday life. The residencies are completely free, and residents may contribute to and harvest from our communal, organic vegetable garden.” Interested, artsy Upstaters? Apply here. Deadline is February 20, 2015.
