Stylish Arts & Crafts Bungalow + Carriage House/Workshop in Callicoon Center, $159,000
Kandy Harris | July 1, 2015Should we shut down the Internet, as the kids like to say? Have we finally, after years of sifting through listings, found our most favorite property ever? That’s an impossible question to answer, but we can say with surety that this Arts & Crafts bungalow in the hamlet of Callicoon Center is our favorite property so far this week, maybe even this month (happy July 1st, everyone!). Even the green kitchen, which might divide some folks, gives us great delight. Sits mid-hamlet on a half-acre of land and comes with a garage/carriage house/workshop that needs to be turned into something cool. Attached to said garage/carriage house/workshop is a fenced-in garden, and there’s a small fruit tree orchard on the property, as well. This is just one of many attractive properties in and around Callicoon, and we’re planning a return trip there very soon so that we may bask in its real estate glory. Meanwhile, since you know we’re all about keeping it real, as the kids also like to say, we’re trying to find a fly in this ointment, and we’re coming up with nothing. Oh wait, here’s one. Floodsmart.gov puts at a high-risk for flooding (the North Branch of the Callicoon Creek is nearby). Way to always be a killjoy, Floodsmart. Still, we’re not quite seeing it. Insiders, let us know what gives with the flooding potential here.
