Hudson may have some great restaurants and delicious food carts, but it’s officially been declared a food desert: a low-income area with a high density of folks without access to decent groceries. The dearth of good grocery stores upstate is something transplants from the city — accustomed to fine chocolate and artisanal cheese on every corner — often complain about. There are great markets, like Adams in Kingston, or tiny, expensive but wonderful spots like Otto’s in Germantown, but there are large sections where good grub just ain’t to be had.
