Ulster Ballet Company presents its annual Festival of Dance at the Ulster Performing Arts Center in Kingston, Saturday, March 19 at 8 pm. The festival, in its 33rd year, features both accomplished and aspiring dancers and choreographers working in a variety of styles and techniques. Participants this year include D’amby Project, Energy Dance Company, Neville Dance Theatre, Ulster Ballet Company, and others. For more information, visit ulsterballet.org.
Saturday Sampler at Catskill Art Society
Catskill Art Society in Livingston Manor presents Saturday Sampler, a series of five workshops held Saturdays from 2 to 5 pm, from March 19 through April 16. The workshops, led by artist Helena Clare Pittman and tailored to adults and children alike, will incorporate still-life set ups and landscape photography to generate works in pastel, graphite, oil, acrylic, and a mix of acrylic with oil pastel for encaustic effects. Older than the Mountain Art Show at the Kaaterskill Fine Arts Gallery
The Kaaterskill Fine Arts Gallery in Hunter is hosting Older than the Mountain, a solo art show featuring the works of Laura Leigh. Leigh, who works primarily in oil, explores the boundaries between realism and abstraction through what she refers to as “fantasy landscapes.” Older than the Mountain exhibition includes recent works by Leigh inspired by the Catskill Mountains. The opening reception will take place Saturday, March 19 from 4 to 6 pm. Laura Leigh and Friends will perform live music. For more information, visit catskillmtn.org.
