Window Quartet Performs at the Hudson Opera House
Window Quartet, an innovative jazz group formed by Antonin Fajt, piano, Carolyn Hietter, saxophone, Julian Lampert, bass, and Matt Norman, drums, will perform at the Hudson Opera House this Saturday, April 30 at 7 pm. The four musicians met while studying at Bard College, and have performed together ever since. Their style is that of a mix of ambient and rhythmic melodic lines inspired by the Hudson Valley. Fajt, who was born in the Czech Republic, also brings to the group a bit of Eastern European cachet. Learn more at hudsonoperahouse.org.
New Art Show Opens at Cross Contemporary Art Gallery
Cross Contemporary Art Gallery in Saugerties is hosting an art show featuring the works of painter Dion Yannatos and photographer Tom Luciano, opening reception Saturday, April 30 at 6 pm. Yannatos works on large scale on a variety of media, exploring the effects of light on canvas, woodland, and paper. He walks a fine line between realism and abstraction. Luciano’s photographs capture the rendez-vous of water, stone, and light as experienced in the Catskill Mountains. The show, which made the front page of the NY Arts Magazine earlier this week, will remain on view through May 22. For more information, visit us5.campaign-archive2.com.
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) at the Rosendale Theatre
Rosendale Theatre is hosting The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) this weekend to mark the 400th commemoration of Shakespeare’s death (the Bard died on April 23, 1616). Adam Long, Daniel Singer, and Jess Winfield wrote parodies of Shakespeare’s plays in a comically shortened form – some scenes invite audience participation. Performances are held Thursday and Friday, April 28 and 29 at 8 pm. For more information, visit rosendaletheatre.org.
