Updated c.1880s Farmhouse on 26 Acres in the Town of Saugerties, $298,000

  |  May 23, 2017

This week on Upstater, we’re sifting through the listings on the lookout for renovated and updated homes on the market, and this c.1888 farmhouse in Saugerties comes with much to recommend it, including a renovated eat-in kitchen, separate formal dining room, and, our favorite modern convenience as the days grow warmer: central air conditioning.

Old-fashioned charm comes standard with the three bedroom house in the form of hardwood floors, pocket doors, original custom wood detailing, and large windows to let in plenty of light. Includes 1155 square feet total inside, while outside, the property comes with 26 acres of land, some of which is fenced, and a run-in shed for horses.

As much as we like this property and its affordable price tag, we are compelled to make a note on the location, which is in the town of Saugerties, not the village situated about 10 minutes away. But that’s not the issue with the location (we love Saugerties!). What might be a sticking point for potential buyers is that a set of railroad tracks run through this property, and those of us who spend a lot of time in the Saugerties area know that freight trains pass through town several times a day. Will these train tracks cause too much a disturbance on this property? File that one away under Questions for the Real Estate Agent.
