Upstater Destinations: Fiber Flame Studio, Saugerties
Kandy Harris | August 8, 2013Some of you have probably seen Fiber Flame’s modern building while whizzing down Route 212 en route to either Woodstock or Saugerties. Perhaps some more of you even checked out the various Hudson Valley Food Truck Festivals held in their parking over the summer months. In case you’ve seen it and scratched your head over what it is, we’ll give you the low-down. Fiber Flame is a mixed-media arts and crafts studio that provides the opportunity for kids and adults alike to come in and get their hands dirty making cool crafts and art projects using a variety of materials. No innate artistic ability is required at Fiber Flame; all you need is the desire to create something with your own two hands.
Owners Shea Lord Farmer and Christina Brady not only keep open studio walk-in hours most weekends until either 5 or 6pm, but they also hold classes and special events. as well. This afternoon (Thursday, 8/8), kids ages 7 and up can attend a class on making fairy houses followed by afternoon tea. Other upcoming classes include clay sculpting and even music classes for both kids and adults.
Planning a birthday party and want to do something special? Fiber Flame can host any type of private event where attendees can paint, sculpt, bust out the hot glue guns, and make something they can take home and show off. Parties also include pizza and drinks. Find out more about that here on their party info webpage.
Summer day camps are starting to wind down, but lots of kids around the area don’t start school for another few weeks. Fiber Flame can be a great place for youngsters to go and fill an afternoon, especially those who are itching to create cool art projects. If you’re a grown-up, don’t worry: You can come play, too.
