Victorian in Amenia, $229,900

  |  July 27, 2012

Don’t you love a whole week of Car-Free country houses? We sure do. Pretty much anywhere you go in Amenia is close to a Metro North station, whether it’s the one in Wassaic or the Tenmile River station. And while most of the properties on the market in Amenia are multi-million dollar homes, we did manage to find some good bargains (like yesterday’s pick, for example, even though it might need some cosmetic work). Here’s one of them. Cute house, love the nice touches like the stained-glass window in the living room. The kitchen is a little dark for our taste, we’re not crazy about the carpeting or the wallpaper, and the lot size isn’t very big. But we do like the pretty porch and that huge attic space, not to mention its aforementioned proximity to the train station, as well as the rail trail. And that’s what we like about Amenia: You CAN get there from here.
