Fear not, locavores. You don’t have to sacrifice either your morals or your good taste when winter comes. Many — in fact most — of your favorite farmers’ markets offer winter versions, stocked with “storage vegetables” (gourds and dry beans, etc), as well as preserved foods from jams to pickles. And, of course, they offer the socializing, too.

Winter farmers’ markets in upstate New York tend to be held less frequently and for fewer hours, so be sure to check before you load up on reusable shopping bags and hop into your snow tire-d car. After the jump, a fairly complete list of your winter options, including those in New Paltz, Pine Island and Millerton.
