Your Pad for the Pisces Party at the Bearsville Theater!

What’s better than one joyous, music-filled winter extravaganza? You guessed it – two joyous, music-filled winter extravaganzas. Now that’s our type of math. This weekend’s Pisces Party, organized by JTD Productions, is being held both in Kingston and at Woodstock’s Bearsville Theater. Same funky music, same exuberant energy, different ambiance, and that’s why we recommend going to both parties – start in Kingston’s historic uptown district on the 6th, then make your way over to Woodstock for the second round of celebrations. You pulled off the all-weekend party during your college years, so we know you have it in you to try it again. And this time, the proceeds go to a local charity, rather than your ex-roommate’s boyfriend’s lab partner’s beer fund. So without further ado, here are our top picks for your Woodstock Pisces Party adventure, be it round #1 or round #2.

If you happen to make some friends during your getaway, you may want to consider hosting a dinner yourself, as the dining room fits eight. “I stayed at this lovely house over a fall weekend and it was a simply wonderful experience. The house has many cozy spaces all of which are diverse and suitable for group socializing or couple’s cuddling. The kitchen is gorgeous, renovated, and spacious. The home owner has excellent taste in decorating. The beds were high and comfortable. The enclosed back porch was a huge plus as well as the fire place. I hope to rent in the summer to enjoy the pool. The place is also PERFECT distance from Woodstock (less than ten minutes)…far enough to not be in the center of it all but close enough to easily access great restaurants, stores, pharmacies, and wine shops. It is also close to tons of hiking attractions. The owner is also very responsive, nice, easy to work with, and accommodating. I highly recommend it!”

“We were just browsing through the site and the place looked nice, affordable and in a great location. What we found was a truly beautiful immaculate peaceful place so close to town, but not too close, everything we could have wanted and more. The area was great we went to the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary which was a most AMAZING place. We could have spent the entire time there and we went back twice.. The Garden Cafe has a really incredible menu and the service was great..We also went to Euphoria Yoga and was treated to a really great class. All of these great places were within 5-10 min of the house.. So beautiful and thank you or keeping the house so perfectly clean and with a most attractive decor.. We really hated to leave and will SURELY stay there again.. and again….”

Min stay: 2 nights

At first, we thought “The Woodstock House” was an awfully…er…entitled title, but then we saw the space itself. Folks, this is the Woodstock house. Located within walking distance to the Bearsville Theater, the home is a celebration of the 1960s, and we mean that in the best way possible (no fallout shelters to speak of, but there is an additional cottage on the property). We love the furnishings and we love the thought the owners have put into creating the perfect getaway for their guests – along with the full list of amenities, visitors are treated to a bottle of wine upon their arrival to the Woodstock House. Groovy.

“Our stay at this Woodstock home was really very special! From the custom built cabinetry to the record player in the master bed room it is clear that a lot of care and thought has gone into this house. It was a very comfortable stay for three couples and our puppy, with a beautiful yard and great lounging space under the beautiful chandelier style lighting. This house is also a perfect location from Woodstock; just outside the hubbub but still very close to town and other great Woodstock sights and experiences (like the Bearsville Theater, the Bear Cafe and the Cub Market- all excellent!) It was really a pleasure to stay here and the house had just the right balance of unique artistry and comfort!”

“Had a great experience at the Bear House! Wonderful location, close to Bear Cafe and Woodstock but also on a private road for a nice intimate experience. House was in great shape with all new amenities and tastefully decorated.

Owner stopped by to make sure everything was great and even gave us a nice bottle of local wine.

Definitely recommend the Bear House for anyone looking to have a great Woodstock / Bearsville weekend!”

3) Cooper Lake Cottage

Price/night: $165
Accommodations: Full house, 1 bedroom
Max guests: 3
Min stay: 1 night

As far as we’re concerned, the owners of Cooper Lake Cottage have set a new standard for the intricate task of furnishing a small home. Of course, when we say “small,” we do not mean “suffocating,” and that’s all thanks to Johanna’s smart use of space. The Jotul stove is exactly where it should be for keeping toes warm in the winter, the charming writing desk looks out into the surrounding forest, and the counter space is just right for meal prep.

Sample reviews:

“We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cottage. Waking up to the sound of the birds was delightful. And having the resident four legged visitors made our day.Our host was beyond gracious even when I totally goofed the reservation dates. We did say “We never wanted to leave there”… What are you waiting for just book your stay already!”

“We stayed here after attending an event in nearby New Paltz. Johanna is a wonderful hostess, and made us feel more than welcome. The location is on the quiet Bearsville side of Woodstock, with plenty of good eating choices within 5 minutes. This is a comfortable and cozy “efficiency” cottage, on the grounds of the main house. We look forward to returning.”
