Pre-Revolutionary Home in Orange County: $650K

Tucked away in the town of Blooming Grove is this gem for an old-home buff.
A pre-Revolutionary home in Orange County? Yes, it was built in 1740. Those windows that kiss the eaves are a dead giveaway; the interior tells more tales.
The foyer is simple and sun-soaked. Wide, painted planks form the flooring, and the treads in the Shaker-style staircase repeat that trend.
As in most Colonial-era homes, the ceilings are low and bracketed with rustic beams. The living room has built-in bookcases on one wall, and a small-but-deep, bricked fireplace.
The dining room is quite large, with a wide fireplace offset in a brick wall. The floors could use refinishing, or not, depending upon the new owner’s preference.
A third fireplace adorns the library, which has at least two walls’ worth of built-in bookshelves.
The kitchen is a blank slate, with stainless-steel counters and white cabinets and appliances.
It’s skinny, but serviceable; we’d consider reinventing this entire space.
A laundry room conveniently sits just off the kitchen, and is big enough for folding and storage.
The main-floor bathroom is a good size, with white walls and a pedestal sink.
An oversized, walk-in shower is a plus.
Head upstairs to find O.G. shiplap walls.
A couple steps lead to one of four bedrooms up here.
Again, these rooms are a blank slate, but all have very solid bones.
The closets are a nice surprise, given the age of the home. Check out those eyebrow windows, too.
The second bathroom needs a sink, and probably a new tub/shower. But how lucky for the new owner to have a second full bath?
This bedroom has a library wall, and interesting iron hardware on the door.
Sun dapples the floor in this room.
Granted, the entire house could use a refresh; but for old-home buffs, it’s a beauty.
A two-car, detached garage offers unexpected storage space, too.
The house sits on 4.4 acres, with 600 feet of frontage on Tomahawk Lake.
