3 Ways to Give the Gift of Crafts & Culture in the Hudson Valley

  |  December 13, 2017

The holidays are upon us (cue the dramatic music), but it’s not too late to fill your friends’ and families’ stockings with Catskills and Hudson Valley gifts.

But, where to begin? Allow us to give you some suggestions on where to find locally-made gifts for everyone on your Nice List.

– Go to a local museum and exit through the gift shop. LoHud.com suggests planning a trip to one of the region’s many museums, such as Lyndhurst, Boscobel, and Philipsburg Manor. Kill two birds with one stone: Get your dose of local history, and finish your shopping, to boot.

– Get everyone the same book about the Hudson Valley and start a book club. Or, you could just…get everyone different books. Whatever you decide, Chronogram.com has got you covered with their Hudson books gift guide. Baking, yoga, something for children…that’s what we call one-stop book shopping.

– Shower your friends and family with thoughtful gifts made in the Catskill Mountains. Crafts and handmade products are a cottage industry in the Catskills, and it’s one that deserves a bit of support. Start with GreatWesternCatskill.com’s handy guide to Catskills artisans like HoneyBee Herbs (beauty products, etc.), Tay Tea (artisanal teas), and Kerrs Creek Distillery (BOOZE, y’all).

That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Do you love to shop local in the Hudson Valley and Catskills? Tell us about your favorites in the comments!
