Saugerties Stone House on Tons of Land, $475,000
Kandy Harris | September 7, 2012There are lots of 18th century stone houses in Saugerties; it’s one of the reasons we like the town so much. This one might not be as pretty as some of the others, but then again, most of the others aren’t sitting pretty on 30 acres of land. Some of the interior looks amazing and could be left alone, like the magnificent study with the built-in shelves, exposed beams, and fire place (although we might considering re-painting in a lighter shade). But we would take a sledgehammer to that row of cupboards above the counterspace separating the kitchen from the eating area, and we’d rip up those pea-green carpets in the living room. And we’ll leave it up to you to guess how we feel about the floral wallpaper in the bedrooms.
Okay, that makes it seem like there’s a lot of work to be done here. But the land is lovely and close (but definitely not walking distance) to the village, as well as the Lazy Swan Resort (definitely walking distance) with their rolling golf courses and impressive array of dining options.
