House Crush of the Week: The Dreamiest Mid-Mod in Westchester County, $1,595,000
Kandy Harris | April 14, 2016Is this really the dreamiest mid-century modern home in Westchester County? It’s all subjective, of course. However, since this is the Mid-Mods of Westchester County Week, you know we’ve looked at a lot of houses in this milieu. We’ve seen a ton of walls made of glass, huge fireplaces, and enough wood panelling to fill the inside of the Madison Square Garden. This particular specimen, however, has got to be our favorite of the bunch, although some may argue that it’s more Contemporary than Mid-Mod. Frankly, we don’t care. We are in love.
Understated and refined, the Favata House was designed by architect George Nenemy and built in 1960. There’s nothing foo-foo about this home, which is part of why we love it so much. Every aspect is in its purest form from its angular spaces with infinitely high ceilings to the stainless steel utilitarian kitchen. Sliding wall panels mean you can open up spaces for entertaining and change the flow of the room. Includes a studio off the living room bursting with light, 4 beds/2.5 baths, 4200 loft square feet, and a meticulously-landscaped .67 acre yard.
