A Breathtaking Beauty of a Four-Bedroom in Hudson, $1.495M

House-hunting is like a healthy diet: You look within your budget, keeping in mind the need to not go beyond your means. But once in a while, it’s fun to indulge. Here, then, is a diet cheat that’s worth the calories…oops, we mean cost…an absolute stunner on Hudson’s Union Street.

It’s over 200 years old, and has four bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths, and has been fully renovated while hanging on to the coolest things such as almost more fireplaces than we could count.

Enter through the front door, which is painted a cheery orange, into a bright hall that’s a mix of scrubbed-down pine and clean white.

There’s a living room off the foyer (you can see a peek of it off to the right in this picture), and a dining room that’s almost its twin. Each has a fireplace.

The kitchen takes full advantage of the six-over-six windows. White cabinets and honed marble countertops pop against light greige walls. It has a chef-quality stove and other high-end stainless-steel appliances. The refrigerator is on a different wall from the cabinets, as is another orange door leading to the front yard.

Down a hallway is a primary suite with a marble vanity. Behind the vanity, next to the large glass shower, is the toilet and a clawfoot tub. The floor-to-ceiling, exposed-brick fireplace separates the bath from the primary bedroom, which is not pictured in the listing but can be seen in the listing agent’s virtual tour. It shares the same scrubbed floors, white walls, and vintage trim and molding.

Upstairs are three more bedrooms, two of which have fireplaces (like this super-cool, functioning one!) and ensuite baths.

Beautiful fixtures are a hallmark of this property.

The views out the windows are stellar, too, capturing more of the architecture that makes Hudson a hot commodity.

This ensuite bath has a double marble vanity, clawfoot tub, and a brick fireplace with a refined, painted mantel.

As if all of that weren’t enough, at the very top of the house is this massive room that can be whatever the new owner wishes. Its exposed-brick walls and diverse windows are gorgeous. But that room in the back is a walk-in closet/dressing room, not an ensuite bath. Bummer.

The house shares a wall with its neighbor, but it sits on the edge of its nearly tenth-of-an-acre lot so there’s a good-size yard that’s not common in the city.

It’s got a bluestone patio and room for landscaping. This property has off-street parking for two cars, but is just two blocks off Warren Street, so the new owner can expect a short stroll to everything that’s cool in Hudson.
