A c.1781 Home in Goshen

  |  May 12, 2025

Goshen, in Orange County, is home to plenty of old homes. Today, we’re touring a c.1781 beauty that’s a mix of old and new.

The facade is classically beautiful, with beige siding and putty-colored shutters. Flagstones mark a path to the front stoop.

Rows of colored glassware in the foyer window sparkle in the sunlight.

Ancient beams hang overhead in the dining room, while built-in shelves host souvenirs and knick-knacks from the current owners’ 44 years of stewardship. That big slab of slate…

…is the hearth for an O.G. cooking fireplace. We love that lil pie-warming oven.

The living room, too, has built-in shelves and a more formal-looking fireplace.

French doors lead to a patio from here.

The kitchen is more modern, but the countertops may be a bit dated compared to today’s standards. Still, the white cabinets with half-shell hardware stand up to modern scrutiny.

That rustic wall treatment complements the floor tile in this room.

The house has three bedrooms, with one on the main floor.

The carpeting may need to be replaced, but the rest of the room is move-in ready.

The bathroom is long and lean.

Upstairs, a teal carpet runs wall to wall beneath a pitched ceiling in this bedroom.

The colors in this bedroom are more sedate.

We imagine this is probably the other side of the previous room.

Stacked washer/dryer machines sidle next to a shower stall in the upstairs bathroom.

It’s a bit dated, but functional. We mean, really…Who expects two full baths in a house that’s 244 years old?

A detached, two-car garage is a bonus, too. The house sits on 1.8 acres in Goshen, five minutes from the village center and special celebrations at the Stagecoach Inn. Its price tag is $549,900.
