A C.1915 Bearsville Colonial for $649K

There’s something to be said for the tradition of Colonial-style homes. This week, Upstater celebrates this age-old design.

Today, we’re at a c.1915 Bearsville Colonial. The swooping curve of the front porch draws us in almost immediately, along with the whitewashed exterior.

Cobalt-blue doors pop against the white clapboards.

A stately, chunky staircase greets visitors at the door. The foyer includes a half-bath.

Original hardwood floors glow against white walls. The original build of the main floor houses a foyer, parlor/guest room, living room, and study/office.

The living room has a Franklin stove against one wall. At the other end of the room is a three-paned, windowed alcove.

A second Franklin stove occupies the kitchen, which shares a wing off the side of the house with a formal dining room. White counters top white cabinetry; the center island’s counter is butcher block.

To head to the second floor, go back to the foyer and climb those impressive stairs.

Groovy wallpaper lines the upper hall.

The floors are glossy white on the second floor. Two (and possibly a third) secondary bedrooms are similar in design.

Original stained-wood trim around the windows breaks up the whitewashed ethos.

A pink, clawfoot tub matches the trim in the shared bath, which also has a vibrant wallpaper.

The primary bedroom is larger than the two (or three) others…

…with the same bowed window alcove as the living room below.

The ensuite bath has this rustic vanity and a bathtub (not shown in this image).

This image easily shows the doglegged kitchen/dining room wing. The house is 2,425 square feet and sits on 2.75 acres. Its backyard is Little Beaver Kill creek, and the bustle of Woodstock is just five miles east of here.
