A Cape Cod-Style Home in Beacon: A triple lot adds room to roam.

This Cape on a triple lot in Beacon has room to roam.
This week, Upstater is in the city of Beacon—an uber-popular spot that’s undergone major transformation over the past decade or two. Now, it’s a hotspot for foodies and music lovers. This home was built in the 1940s, well before the city’s renaissance, but it’s been renovated in a beautiful way. We love that covered porch.

The porch has stone facing on the facade and generous floor space. A mullioned red door makes a statement.

Inside, the living room is serene with light-green walls and hardwood flooring.

The kitchen has an L-shaped workspace with stainless-steel appliances. An eat-in area is tucked into one corner of the brown-tiled space.

Two bedrooms are on the main floor. This bedroom is royally sized, with room enough for a curio and a full dresser along with a big bed.

That pillowy, pieced ceiling appears elsewhere in the house, along with right here in this teal-walled bedroom.

Neutral tiled walls, white fixtures, and a brown-tiled floor are a great backdrop for pops of color provided by a shower curtain and matching window curtain in this bathroom.

Two bedrooms are upstairs. We appreciate the expanse of shining wood flooring in this dormered bedroom.

The second bedroom, too, is a warren of angled ceilings.

Wow! We did not expect this O.G. green-tiled bathroom. It’s a mastery of Midcentury Modern preservation, down to the toilet lid. For die-hards, this room is a gem.

The basement hasn’t been forgotten. It’s been finished into a great relaxation space with half-wainscoted walls and a gray color scheme.

The house fits 2,527 square feet onto a 0.39-acre lot.
It’s all located in a pleasantly woodsy part of Beacon. Although it’s right off Route 52 and not far from Route 84, it’s about 15 minutes from Sharpe Reservation, where a hardy hike can be rewarded with an honest-to-goodness planetarium visit—for real: We’ve been there. Hot tip: Go sideways down the steep hills…step by step…yeah, you’ve got it. Now you get to sit in a comfy seat and watch the constellations unfold around you. Katy Perry’s got nothin’ on you.
