A Dome + 5 Acres for $39,000 in Sullivan County
Kandy Harris | February 27, 2015We’ve had such an inordinate amount of fun scouring the listings for weirdo unusual properties this week that we’re a little sad to bring it to a close. Here are a few things we’ve learned:
1) If we had to choose one spot with the most unusual properties, it would have to be Woodstock. Such a wealth of fun and interesting designs happening there.
2) Finding a church on the market is hard enough, but finding a church already renovated is like finding a hay-shaped needle in a hay stack.
3) Speaking of churches, where are all the residences that used to be something else? We were hoping to find at least one warehouse transformed into a super-cool private home (not an apartment building or commercial space; we know where to find those). If you’ve got a bead on where those are hanging out, please let us know.
4) There are a surprising number of domes in the Upstater area. Oh look! Here’s another one:
What you’re actually paying for here is the 5 acres of land upon which this geodesic dome sits. But wait! There’s more! Comes with a dilapidated mobile home. Joking aside, though, we’re intrigued by this dome because we’re thinking secluded art studio in the Catskills (what better place to receive the Muse?) or maybe it could be expanded into a wellness retreat center. Or it could be jazzed up and turned into a unique vacation rental. Lots of potential. What would you do with your dome?
