A Four-Bedroom with a Pool in Red Hook: $625K

  |  May 8, 2023

Red Hook is a pretty town in northwestern Dutchess County, and it’s the focus of this week’s Upstater house tours.

Bard College and the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome are among the highlights of the town—and don’t forget the luminous Poet’s Walk trail. Today’s house is a six-minute drive from Bard. Built in 1965, it’s got bilevel bones but has been gussied up nicely.

The front entry, for instance, is striking with a gabled portico over a rich, wooden front door with matching sidelights. The rest of the exterior has a brick foundation topped with beige board-and-batten siding.

Head upstairs to the living room, which has wood floors and a gray stone fireplace.

Behind the living room is a dining room, with sliders leading outside.

They open to this marvelous, partially covered mahogany deck, which is an outdoor living room in itself on nicer days. The actual interior living room, too, has sliding doors accessing this space.

The eat-in kitchen has a gray ceramic-tile floor and sponge-painted gray walls. The maple cabinets are honey-toned and Shaker style, topped with gray countertops, and the appliances (including a five-burner gas range with a convection oven) are white.

The house has four bedrooms. This one has wood flooring and built-in cabinetry and shelving. The walls are a buttery yellow.

This room is smaller, with white walls and small windows.

The primary bedroom has the same small casement windows, and the marbled gray walls that we saw in the kitchen.

It’s got a tiled ensuite bath with a wall-mounted sink and slim shower stall. The home has a hall bath, too, but it’s not pictured in the listing.

The fourth bedroom was converted into a soundproof music studio, with a variegated brown tile floor and white walls.

The laundry room is nicely finished and includes a half bath.

The property measures 0.68 acre, with this beautiful, fenced-in, 40′ by 16′ inground, saltwater pool. It’s just a few minutes’ drive to Route 9G for shopping, etc.
