A Geodesic Dome-icile in Kingston: Some work is needed, but it has potential.

Today’s Upstater pick is a geodesic dome-icile in Kingston. The snow this winter makes this landscape more like a moonscape, doesn’t it?

The house was built in 2007 and needs some (ok, a lot of) updating. Still, the house has three-plus bedrooms and 2.5 baths within 2,330 square feet. This time of year, the driveway is kind of a monster to tackle, at a whopping 750 feet long.

A sweeping staircase rambles from the front door to the second floor.

The living room is in great condition, with a beautiful wood floor and modern lighting.

A rustic barnwood accent wall and a charming lil’ pellet stove highlight the space.

The kitchen is in great shape, too, and has newer stainless-steel appliances; but, if finances allow, the new owner might want to update the cabinetry.

Doors open from the dining area to an outdoor deck.

The first-floor primary bedroom has all the interesting angles you’d expect in a dome house.

A walk-in closet hugs the house’s curves.

And an ensuite full bath is a nice touch, though the walls need a facelift.

Upstairs are more bedrooms with cool angles and skylights.

The upstairs bath is pristine, with a green-and-beige-and-white color scheme that somehow works.

The rest of the upper floor, however, needs repairs, like the skylight in this bedroom.

Spackling has begun in this room, which seems to have a nice floor.

When all of its safety hazards have been remedied, this spiral staircase will lead to a third-floor cupola. According to the listing, the cupola space is surrounded by windows. A new roof is needed, too.

Onsite repair work can be managed in the basement workshop.

The setting is bucolic—and it’s under five miles to civilization in Kingston, and provisions at Adams Fairacre Farms.
