A Hobbit-Friendly House in Sullivan County: $208K

  |  October 4, 2024

Wrapping up our firepit week, Upstater finds itself back in Liberty, Sullivan County, at a cute little cottage that Frodo would probably love.

We, too, love the twin round-peaked roofs on this two-bedroom, just-a-shade-over-1,000-square-foot cottage.

The living room has a nice fireplace and neat blue walls with white trim.

French doors lead from the dining room out to an enclosed porch.

The kitchen is a spot in which the new owners could let their imaginations run wild. We like the wood flooring and tin backsplash, but the layout and materials could all use an update, in our opinion.

This large, very pink bedroom has big windows and a nice hardwood floor.

The bathroom is petite but has all the necessary parts: tub/shower, a pedestal sink, and toilet.

This room is more “sunroom” than “bedroom,” what with all those lovely windows.

The entire front of the home, in fact, is a sunroom.

A lot of potential exists in this sunny space.

We are partial to that rubble foundation and cedar-siding ethos.

The house sits on almost a half-acre of grassy property…

…surrounded by mature trees. It’s just west of downtown Liberty, but not far from Route 17.
