A Hurley Home with a Garden
Jane Anderson | May 14, 2025
This Hurley home with a garden caught our eye because the facade is just too cute with its yellow color scheme and asymmetrical porch.
The rest of the house is eye-catching in other ways.

The living room has a lot of wood trim that’s original to its c.1943 construction, along with a fireplace.

The dining room is spacious, with wood-trimmed, leaded-glass windows.

Longtime readers will know we would sigh over this O.G. kitchen cabinet suite, replete with Midcentury Modern hardware. The purist in us would research the right kind of countertop to complement the cabinetry, and maybe even replace that range with an original Frigidaire Flair. But that’s just us. You do you.

The modernist, though, would roll up sleeves and bear a sledgehammer. We don’t judge.

The first bathroom is a full tub/shower bath on the main floor. A sliding glass door (which is usually a bear to clean) covers the tub/shower.

The ceiling is certainly different, and the vanity’s storage is substantial. Plus, if you like your own reflection, this bathroom delivers.

We’re betting that’s faux rock near the floor in this bedroom. But is that a teeny fireplace? We’re not sure about that.

This is a workshop on the main floor. It could seriously become whatever the new owner desires.

There’s a full basement, too, that’s partially finished.

This family room is fully finished, with cast-iron baseboard heating and ceiling lights.

We’ve heard of a Pittsburgh potty, but a Pittsburgh shower, too? Yup, there’s basically a second full bath out in the open in the cellar. Check out the details in the virtual tour.

The house measures 1,131 square feet and sits on a 1.6-acre parcel that’s chock-full of fruit trees, berry bushes, and garden beds.
