A Jeffersonville Fixer-Upper Farmhouse: A Five-Figure Friday pick.

Five-Figure Fridays are few and far between lately. Yet, here we are in Jeffersonville, Sullivan County, at a legit one.
This c.1890 farmhouse is in surprisingly good condition; still, buyer beware is a good mantra. Blue-painted cedar shingles cover the exterior, and a pretty sunburst is centered above the wide, covered porch.

Carpeting fills the foyer and continues up the stairs. We’d strip that and refinish the simple, elegant lines of the stairwell while we were at it.

The kitchen is intact, with a four-burner gas cooktop and a tiled floor.

It’s a bit grimy, and the countertops and overall layout could use an update. But the cabinets themselves may be able to be reused.

This built-in corner hutch in the dining room is a gem.

We would try to sand down those floors to see what kind of wood is covered by that paint.

It’s not all good news, as this torn-up floorboard can attest.

But the chandelier and wallpaper in this room hark back to a more elegant time.

Most of the rooms need full renovation. There are five bedrooms…

…and two full baths. This one has a pedestal sink, an uninstalled toilet, and a tub/shower with sliding glass doors. The water and sewer service is most likely unusable at this point.

But rooms like this remind us that the home was once gently cared for.

It needs the right owner to bring it back to life.

Even this skinny little bathroom has potential in its vintage pink tub.

And the chestnut trim around those windows is drool-worthy to the right eye.

The green in this room, however, is kinda garish.

Speaking of green, peek through the foliage in the yard to catch a glimpse of the Laundry Brook that runs through the property. The 1,682-square-foot home sits on a quarter-acre. It’s in a beautifully woodsy neighborhood off of Route 52; provisions can be had just 0.3 mile away at Peck’s Market. Not bad for a Five-Figure Friday, with a list price of $99,000.
