A Log Cabin and a Cute Red Barn in Saugerties: $399K

  |  November 20, 2024

Today’s Upstater pick is a two-fer: A log cabin and a cute red barn in Saugerties.

The cabin gives Little House in the Big Woods vibes.

But Laura Ingalls never saw an interior like this. Yes, it may need some updates. But the bones of this place are solid and beautiful. The front door leads to an open-concept living/dining/kitchen area. Log beams climb to cathedral heights.

The stairs go up to a catwalk framing the upstairs bedroom. The kitchen below has a small breakfast bar and a back door. A stained-glass pendant hangs over the dining area, which has a built-in “whatnot” (if you’re an Ingalls fan, you know what that is) in the corner.

The floor definitely should go, along with the countertops, in our opinion. While the new owner is at it, they could update the appliances, too. Luckily, the price tag on this property allows leeway.

French doors next to the living room’s electric “woodstove” open to a bedroom replete with its own woodstove.

The bedroom is long and comprises many woodtones.

The catwalk upstairs captures views of the wagon-wheel chandelier.

The loft bedroom peaks in the center. Pine floors and walls gleam in the daylight.

The property totals 1.10 acres and includes this pristine red barn.

Inside, it’s just too darn adorable. Imagine it as a workshop or even (with some insulation, etc.) as extra living space.

It’s near the Kaaterskill Wild Forest, but not too far from civilization: It’s just three miles to Route 32.
