A Midcentury Modern-Style Saugerties Ranch with All the Modern Conveniences

  |  September 8, 2025

Today, Upstater is visiting a Midcentury Modern-style Saugerties ranch.

It has ’50s vibes, but was built in 2021. The linear exterior is stunning, with blue clapboards and a pumpkin-colored front door.

Bluestone tiles cover the open foyer, giving way to knotty wood flooring in the great room.

A stacked-stone fireplace reaches to the ceiling in the open-concept great room. Sliders on a side wall open to a side deck.

The dining table separates the living area from the kitchen, which has a four-seat breakfast bar. A cable-railed staircase is off to the side and leads to the lower level.

Dark counters sit on white cabinets. An aproned farm sink is a nice touch, across the kitchen from a big, stainless-steel fridge. Open shelving replaces upper cabinets against a white subway-tiled wall.

The first of two bedrooms on the main level has a blueish-charcoal shiplap accent wall and knotty pine flooring.

A rustic vanity has an undermount sink near a spacious, walk-in shower that has a black mosaic-tiled floor and walls that are sheathed in white subway tile.

The same shiplap in the first bedroom reappears in the second bedroom, which has a big, three-paned window.

This bedroom’s companion bath also has a subway-tiled shower.

Head down the stairs from the great room to a roomy lower level.

The fully finished family room has a polished concrete floor.

The bedroom down here has two beds currently, but could fit just one comfortably.

A spacious bathroom has built-in linen storage, a tub/shower with tiling that’s identical to the other two, and white hexagon floor tile.

A laundry closet also lives on the lower level.

Outside, a screened-in porch keeps bugs at bay. Although the home’s design is informed by 1950s MidMod-core, there’s a host of conveniences, from a whole-house generator to central air conditioning and an EV charger.

A log-lined firepit encourages s’mores-fueled conversation. The house is just a few minutes from Route 32 and is about six miles from the Saugerties village center. Don’t skip the short hike to the Saugerties Lighthouse, about a mile and a half east of the main drag. The house is listed at $899,000.
