A Nicely Updated c.1873 Colonial in Millerton: $530K

  |  October 24, 2024

Upstater is in the cute Dutchess County village of Millerton today.

We’re at a nicely updated, c.1873 Colonial. The exterior has a neutral beige/white color palette, with cedar shakes up top and modern siding on the first level.

The front door has twin sidelights that pour light into a spacious mudroom/entry.

That long cubby and multiple wall hooks beg for company, or a passel of kiddos.

The kitchen has the same woodtone ceramic flooring as the entry. Beautiful updates include gray, Shaker-style cabinets topped with pretty counters—we’re assuming they’re quartz, but they could be polished granite. The traditional work triangle is nicely disrupted here with a pot-filler faucet over the range and a second sink along another wall. Appliances are stainless steel: That’s almost mandatory nowadays, isn’t it?

That edgy bump-out in the dining room screams Eastlake architecture. If you’ve read previous posts, you know we at Upstater salivate over Eastlake architecture. But if this was an original Eastlake, that identity pretty much has been scrubbed away. But wait: That sliver of dark wood in the doorway…could it be a pocket door?

*Gasp* yup.

The living room is on the other side. It’s got beautiful hardwood flooring, loden-green walls, and crisp white trim.

The main floor also has a laundry room…

…and a modern, gray-themed half bath.

A full bath also resides on the main floor.

It’s got this glassed-and-tiled, oversized shower with a handy toiletry niche.

Head up the stairs; the primary bedroom has this self-illuminated Ikea Pax closet system.

All the bedrooms share this gorgeous, second-floor bath. It has hexagonal ceramic floor tiles, a clawfoot tub, a double vanity…

…and a walk-in shower equipped for bathing à deux.

Turquoise walls highlight this bedroom.

The third bedroom has light blue walls and a smaller closet system.

This outdoor deck must be exquisite in the summer, with flowering vines entwining its railings.

This playhouse is just too adorable. We love that it shares a color scheme with the house.

Gardeners will appreciate the raised garden beds.

The house—which also has a full basement with a workbench—measures almost 2,000 square feet. It sits on a 0.38-acre lot.

It’s a quick, tree-canopied stroll to Millerton’s Main Street—in fact, a satisfying cup of tea at Harney & Sons teahouse is under six minutes away.
